My name is Chivoan Chhang (Mr.), Khmer nationality. I am one of other citizens who are born and living in Siem Reap province of Cambodia since 1972. I have a sister and two brothers. My father was killed in the Pol Pot Genocidal Regime. Fortunately, my mother, sister, brothers and I are survived from this dreadful time.

In 1993, I worked for the UNTAC (United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia) that was responsible for the preparation of the first free and fair election in Cambodia. I was positioned as the secretary and translator.

In 1994, after completion of the above authority, I started with another job as a tour guide for the whole year. This could be considered as the start of opening a tourism field to Cambodia.

From 1995 till mid-1997, I had been working with the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations). My position was firstly a secretary and translator and later an administrative assistant, which was responsible for the administration and accounting works.

The Ministry of Tourism under the advice and guidance of the Royal Government of Cambodia, the official tourist guides have been selected in 1997 through a preparation of the training and examination for a couple of months in Siem Reap Angkor. In seeing this, I had applied for this training and eventually received a formal certificate issuing by the Ministry.

The numbers of tourists have increased from year to year due to the social security and political stability in the country. I decided to work, not for any travel agency but as a free-lance guide from the year I obtained certificate till now.

Being as a tour guide for several years and with a great deal of experiences and knowledge, and also for future progress as well as to develop myself, I personally come up with an idea of creating my own travel agency which is called “Angkor Mystery Travel” in the year 2005. This travel agency based in Siem Reap city is firstly covered the Siem Reap’s Angkor archeological site. But in the short future, this travel agency will expand its possibility to other sites of the country. In case that there is any request from clients to other areas beside Siem Reap, I would satisfy their wishes.
